Abhyanga is a traditional Ayurvedic practice that involves a full-body massage with warm ayurvedic oils, specifically chosen based on an individual’s Dosha or body type.
The word “Abhyanga” comes from Sanskrit, where ‘Abhi’ means “towards,” and ‘Anga’ refers to “body part,” reflecting the holistic, nurturing effect of this therapy.
Abhyanga Therapy Process:
1. Personalized Assessment:
Before the session begins, our Ayurvedic expert evaluates the patient’s body type to select the most suitable medicated oil.
2. Preparation of the Oil:
The chosen oil is gently warmed to a comfortable temperature, ensuring better absorption and deeper therapeutic effects.
3. Massage Technique:
4. Rest & Absorption
After the massage, the patient is allowed to relax for a few minutes, allowing the oil to penetrate deeply into the skin and nourish the tissues.
5. Detoxification Enhancement
To further promote detoxification, the session is often followed by a Swedana (herbal steam bath), which opens the pores and facilitates the removal of toxins.
