Abhyanga (Full Body Ayurvedic Massage)

Abhyanga is a traditional Ayurvedic practice that involves a full-body massage with warm ayurvedic oils, specifically chosen based on an individual’s Dosha or body type.

The word “Abhyanga” comes from Sanskrit, where ‘Abhi’ means “towards,” and ‘Anga’ refers to “body part,” reflecting the holistic, nurturing effect of this therapy.

Abhyanga Therapy Process:

1. Personalized Assessment:

Before the session begins, our Ayurvedic expert evaluates the patient’s body type to select the most suitable medicated oil.

2. Preparation of the Oil:

The chosen oil is gently warmed to a comfortable temperature, ensuring better absorption and deeper therapeutic effects.

3. Massage Technique:

  • The therapy begins with long, soothing strokes that cover the entire body.
  • Circular movements are applied over joints and vital energy points (Marma points) to stimulate circulation and energy flow.
  •  Areas experiencing stiffness, pain, or tension receive extra care and attention.

4. Rest & Absorption

After the massage, the patient is allowed to relax for a few minutes, allowing the oil to penetrate deeply into the skin and nourish the tissues.

5. Detoxification Enhancement

To further promote detoxification, the session is often followed by a Swedana (herbal steam bath), which opens the pores and facilitates the removal of toxins.

Post-Treatment Care:

  • warm water bath is taken to cleanse the body of excess oil while retaining moisture, leaving the skin soft and rejuvenated.
  • It is advised to stay warm and avoid exposure to cold air or wind, as the body remains highly receptive after the treatment.
  • To aid digestion and maintain Dosha balance, a light, warm meal is recommended—simple foods like khichdi or mung dal &rice, soup are ideal for nourishment and ease of digestion.
